A Shepherdess to Blood Diamonds’ Victims
Faith Okrafo-Smart is the Visionary of Melqosh Mission International, a Non-Profit Organisation created to support the Blood Diamonds victims – amputees, whose limbs were amputated by the rebels in one of Africa’s bloodiest wars in Sierra Leone, including their dependants. The charity has extended its charitable activities; providing relief to children orphaned by Ebola and disadvantaged groups affected by Ebola in Sierra Leone.
This UK-based Community Leader has valiantly worked to render support and necessary intervent
ions to the most marginalised, before, during and Post Ebola. As a result, none of the mission’s direct beneficiaries contracted Ebola.
She is also an Ordained Pastor, a Teacher of the Word and an Evangelist with a zeal to take the Gospel to the ‘unreached’. In 2016, after an encounter with God during her trip to Israel, the Lord instructed her to gather His people, the remnant of Sierra Leone and that He would meet with them. By the leading of the Lord, she conducted a 3 day-3 cities’ Gather My People Crusade. Over a thousand amputees, widows and orphans gave their lives in Freetown, the Capital of Sierra Leone; including Makeni, the Northern Sierra Leone and Bo, Southern Sierra Leone. Her journey to win more souls into the Kingdom continued at Lungi, Sierra Leone in May 2017 and she plans to take the Gospel to other provincial regions.
Facts that you may not know about this Shepherdess:
- She had an out of body experience in 1997, when giving birth to her son and sees her time here on earth as a second chance to redeem the time productively.
- She works as a Voluntary- Executive at Melqosh since 2011.
I asked her, “What drives you to make the personal sacrifices daily” She answered with a smile, “If I don’t do what I do, no one else will, I see it as a privilege and not a sacrifice to serve humanity”. My mantra is Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbour, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you” when you already have it with you. Proverbs 3:27-28
Interviewing this lady left me inspired to do more for the impoverished, she has that effect on many who come across her. I have seen the evidence of Pastor Faith Okrafo-Smart’s work over the past five years and it exemplifies the undiluted love of God. It reminds me of a Scripture in Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Her charity, Melqosh Mission International is set to render over 100 scholarships to the children of the Blood Diamond Victims, this September.
